How the Sudoku solver works
Playoku's solver does what most free solvers don't. It tells you whether your puzzle is actually valid — flagging clues that contradict each other (no solution) or are under-constrained (more than one solution) instead of silently guessing. And in step-by-step mode it solves the way a person does, naming each technique as it applies it: naked and hidden singles, locked candidates, naked and hidden pairs, X-Wing, Swordfish and XY-Wing.
Three ways to enter a puzzle
Tap a cell and type the clues, paste the 81-character string copied from another app, or scan a photo or screenshot and let the built-in reader fill the grid for you. Whichever you pick, every digit you enter is checked live against the rules so misreads and typos surface immediately.
