6×6 Sudoku
The bridge between mini and classic: a six-by-six grid with 2×3 boxes and the digits 1–6. Bigger than a warm-up, friendlier than the full grid.

Each row, column and 2×3 box must hold the numbers 1 to 6 once. Those rectangular boxes are the twist — box logic behaves a little differently than the square boxes of 4×4 and 9×9, which makes 6×6 a smart stepping stone. You'll use naked and hidden singles plus the occasional locked candidate.
- Digits 1–6, with non-square 2×3 boxes.
- Long enough for real deduction, short enough to finish in a few minutes.
- A natural next step after 4×4, before the 9×9 grid.
Who is 6×6 for?
It suits improving beginners and younger solvers who've outgrown the 4×4 but aren't ready for ninety cells of 9×9. It's also a quick, satisfying format when you want a complete solve in a short break.
Frequently asked questions
Why are the boxes rectangular in 6×6 Sudoku?
A 6×6 grid can't be split into square boxes of six cells, so each box is a 2-row by 3-column rectangle. The one-of-each rule is unchanged.
Is 6×6 harder than 4×4?
A little — more cells and rectangular boxes mean a few more eliminations — but it's still firmly beginner-friendly.
